Dear members,
RE: Annual membership fee
According to Article 2 of the UCI bylaws, all members of the community fall under one of the mentioned categories of membership therein. Article 2 section 2 further defines how one activates their membership by formally registering and paying the annual membership fee of $50 that was passed at the annual general meeting several years ago.
It’s from this background and the need to maintain a formalized database for our members that we request each member to officially reach out to the treasurer to activate and /or renew their membership for this financial year October 2024 to September 2025 and going forward thereafter.
We acknowledge and appreciate the generous monetary and material contributions made by most members throughout the year. Last financial year 2023 – 2024, we had over 100 fully paid-up members, which greatly facilitated smooth running of community affairs. It’s time yet again we request you to renew this membership. We believe, by all members sending in their annual membership, this lessens the burden of a few members who religiously support the community financially.
With this membership fee, we are able to bring more services beneficial to our members like workshops, seminars with expertise in areas like financial management, career guidance, investments, retirement, business startups, new members resettlement, immigration guidance, marriage support and counselling, mental health, employment referral and placement, and so on. With this also we’re in position to support activities for our youth and children and also be able to organize more decent events.
Paid up members enjoy benefits ranging from having a say in the affairs of the community (voting or holding leadership roles), ability to access the above expertise guidance and support, discounted or free entrance to community events, official recommendation and support if needed in any way, etc.
Please reach out to the Treasurer Mrs. Jackie Kakande – Zelle; 847-809-2756, Cashapp $Jacqueline Nabukeera, Assistant treasurer Miss Margaret Naluyima – Zelle; 773-225-9235
Or make a deposit at Huntington bank, Uganda community in Illinois Account # 01068499500

Dear members,
Re: Semi-Annual general meeting and financial literacy workshop
This is to notify you and invite you to our semi-annual general meeting scheduled for April 19th, 2025, at 242 S. clubhouse drive, Palatine Illinois 60074 starting at 4pm. During these meetings we report on the status and progress of the community and exchange ideas on the way forward. It’s crucial that you make it a point to be in attendance.
In continuation with our norm of enlightening and empowering our members, we will have a presentation and discussion centering around financial education. Areas of concentration will be insurance, investment, retirement planning, estate planning, and debt management. To conduct and spearhead this is a well-known financial educator Mr. Michael Kakande aka Kapalaga.
Mr. Kakande Michael is a Ugandan financial professional based here in the US who has educated thousands of people across the United States and Canada sharing insights on debt management and financial planning. Apart from being a financial professional, Kapalaga is also a talented artist, actor and songwriter known for his engaging performances and socially conscious music. His multifaceted career reflects his dedication to both creative expression and empowering others through financial literacy. Some of you who have attended or come across his teachings on social media or in person will agree with me this will be time well spent. Please plan accordingly and be there.
I would also like to thank all members who have supported the community by sending in their annual membership fee. Please reach out to the treasurer or to me if you haven’t done so. These funds are extremely helpful in the smooth running of community affairs.
Please familiarize yourself with the community calendar so you don’t miss out on the many exciting programs lined up for you throughout the year.
Regards
Our community, Our children, Our Future
